As if I needed a humbling moment
So we started the fourth week with a bang. Having been asked to get mouth-guards, gloves and head protection last week I honestly did not think we were gonna need to use it for a while.
So my boxing self esteem in not particularly high as I am considering myself to be on Level 0. So yesterday it was time for the first sparing. And OMG what a buzz that was. Well initially it was a buzz which quickly transformed into a dizzy haze (after being punched in the head a few times). Also, fighting someone heavier than you isn’t much fun either, especially when the difference is around 10kg. That said many of our fighters in the low 70′s (kg) would still have destroyed me without any problem. So in summary, it was awesome because of the adrenaline rush. But I need some personal training!
Overall training is going very well, I am trying to do CrossFit in the mornings, and I still have not missed a single boxing session. My weight gaining is going very badly. After having gained 3 kg from the first to the second week I have now dropped back to my usual 82kg. Strength wise the lifting goes well (not that it has any relevance to the boxing), was able to set a new PB on the front Squat @ 110kg last week. The weekends are off limits for training so I have time to recover and spend time with the family.
Dragon boat season has finished (we finished 27th in the Mixed category at the Stanley races), so I can concentrate fully on the boxing.
